Hello Everyone! I have only posted a couple times on this site but I visit daily to read about all the great finds around the world. I think I have stumbled upon something worthy of sharing with you. MY uncle bought an old farmhouse awhile back and inside the attic was an enormous amount of antique stuff. In addition to 1800's era bibles, many many old books, antique wood stove, glass bottles, hundreds of other things which are too many to list, and best of all was this old trunk (which he gave to me). I'm not to sure of its date range and it is missing the leather handles, which look to have just fallen apart over the years, other then that though, it looks pretty much complete. The key is missing but he said he found a ring of skeleton keys and when I get another chance to go out there, I hope to find one that fits. At some point animals were living around it, as the house has set empty for quite awhile and the bottom of the inside smells of urine. All in all though, I think it was an excellent find in addition to the 10 petal sleigh bells I found under a foot (seriously it was a foot or better) of coon poop in the top of the barn loft. I have cleaned up the bells and am thinking of ways to clean up the trunk a little. I would only like to shine up the tin on the outside, replace the missing leather handles, hopefully remove the smell from the inside, and make the lid a little more stable, it's loose and looks to be trying to pull away at the hinges. Other then that I would like to leave it as is. Please check out my pictures and if anyone has any pointers on the trunk, I would love to hear your ideas. Thanks for taking the time to read my post, good luck with your own hunt for treasure and have a great day.

Congrats! I don't care about the trunk, but those petal bells could be worth some real dough to a collector - do some research!

great bells....are they silver??? sounds like you have a great place for future hunts.WTG

Congratulation!

Thanks, they are brass number 2 petal with 3 touching petals on each side. They are all complete and have figure eight pin still attached to all. I found the original strap with them but the leather was in several torn and shredded pieces. When I am able to return I hope to find more.
