Old train part? found in creek after monsoon.

This was found in central Arizona in a creek after a strong monsoon. I'm not exactly sure what it is or how old. Its about 15" tall and very dense. I've found multiple railroad spikes and other smaller iron pieces in this creek. Any guesses as to what this is?
