4rth president,u.s.a.James Madison..1809-1817 on the front.. back side,Secretary of state under jeferson as a debater and defender of the constution , he became one of Americas great states men. anyway i found this around the old fort mobeetie, is very hard to read. If anyone could help me out on this token i would be thankful... sorry for the poor pic..

Fort "mobeetie" never was. It was called Fort Elliot and the only thing left standing in that area is an old wooden flagpole.

Where did you dig the Palmolive token? That's pretty cool. Was it from the fort too?

I believe your token is from one of the presidential commemorative or so-called "presidential data" series issued around 40-50 years ago. Some were given away at gas stations, others at banks, and I believe some may have been used as prizes in boxes of breakfast cereal. Later, they were also sold in sets or albums in gift and hobby shops.
