Dug this at an old farm house. Can anyone tell me what it is? It doesn't look like any Military Buttons I have....hmmmmm
Old ring from the same site. Is it brass...it looks very dark...can, should I electrolysis this?

Hello, I absolutely would NOT electrolysis this pin!!!! It appears to still have some of the gold gilt left & seems to be in nice condition. My guess is that it would be military related, but I am no expert for sure. VERY COOL FIND no matter what!!!!!!

I would Google "Texas Star Hat Pins".. Not sure of the period.. but there is a book on Texas Civil War relics maybe someone has a copy and can verify the period.. if it's Civil War... WOW!!!

Very interesting finds. With you saying its a button then it must be small. Or I would say it could be a badge, the back looks like it might of slid down in a shirt pocket.
