Old tack hammer head ?

Can anyone identify this item ? My brother found it today around the former site of an 1800's school house. Thank you !

Doesn't look like any that I've seen or have. I think you've got a kids hatchet Which I think is a more interesting find. I'd like to see it when you get it cleaned up!!!

I can't tell by the picture, but if there's no hole for a handle it would be a felling wedge.

Thank you everyone ! I've dug more Axe Heads than I care to admit so I know it isn't that. The children's hatchet or felling wedge seem most plausible. I'll do some electrolysis on it and see how it cleans up. Thanks as always for the input. This site has been a great asset to me as a digger. GL and HH !
