I did several searches and didn't find anything conclusive but there seemed to be a lot of court/law references to my search.

May be a court room stamp. Take it to the local court house and ask.

Thanks Padmaster for the trouble you went thru.It's hard to find out anything about Alabama stuff here electronically here.You suggestion is well taken and will be acted upon.

Because the letters are cut in, I would guess that this is a 'seal' used with hot wax to seal documents, letters.. etc.. I get call for them in once in a while (I cut stamps from rubber, wood, and plastic on a laser) .. Now, there usually only used by crafts people, and of course yuppies trying to make an impression.. no pun intended.. This one looks like a genuine 'old' wax seal impression maker with the handle missing..
