saved up my gas money(we are at 3.30 a gal.) and went back to the old stage stop again, not sure if its the last time or not, been there 6 time now and I still haven't found the spring they got their water from that is shown on the old maps, it could be dried up cause LA sucked up all the water in the valley. any way heres pics of the total finds. the silver coin is so worn you can barely make out the 6 peso with a 10 power glass.

Really nice finds! Hope you get to hunt it more and find lots!

Nice finds! With results like those, I wouldn't quit going there just yet. Gas is only going to get more expensive, so go while it's "only" $3.30.

That's great stuff. I think I'd go some more if I were you.

Burt

Keep going Keep Going! :D So very cool!

I am seriously thinking on going back one more time and try to find the location of the spring, I'm sure its dried up but might be someting in the ground.

Something to consider when looking for old springs - whether they are gone or not. Look for vegetation that is different from the surrounding type and size. Water would have made the plants closest to the spring either grow big and tall, or it would have attracked different varieties of plants. We look for changes in plants when looking for old Indian campsites because native habitation added nutrients and liquides to the soil - making a better habitat for some plants. Good luck and please keep us posted.
