Wow how does this not have any replies? That buckle is awesome!,,,congrats!

Yeah , Nice silver buckle - I'd be pretty excited by that find - you don't see sterling buckles showing up here very often !

There's just so much just in my area I hunt, 2 generations of 3 houses all pulled down, it was a hunting camp before and b4 that the union I heard used it as a staging point for missions in SE la the town I'm on the outskirts of had gotten pillaged and razed by the union once they couldn't take Vicksburg they decided to consolidate they're gains and bam occupation turns into pillage

That thing looks like it has some weight to it, almost Western style ornation.
Very cool.

U must be just across the river from Vicksburg. I live 35 miles from Vicksburg but do come that way to hunt sometimes on the weekend. I would love to find a buckle like that. Nice finds.

No I'm way south. I'm in ponchatoula la , wasn't a lot of confederate troops here, after New Orleans went everything kinda capitulated from there.. There was a lot of " bushwacking" going on so the union burned the town.. They're tearing up all the sidewalks here in the old part of town but only like 50ft at a time so I never have a chance. What generation do you guys think that buckle is from?

Kinda hard to pinpoint this one - the engraving is in a much earlier style (mid to later 19th century ) but the form of the buckle seems
much later - 1940's or so - just guessing here without more in the way of hallmarks to go by.
