It looks like a 1 or 2 "Reale" except the portrait is facing the wrong way, and the reverse is different.

They were made of silver.

It also looks like an Escudo (made from gold) but again,

the portrait is facing the wrong way, and the reverse is wrong.

The Obverse is of 18th century spanish, yet the reverse looks almost like 19th century U.S. with the "wreath, and torch-like" design...

If you ask me,

I believe it's a fake of some type (not 100% positive).

I can tell you that I lived in Spain for 3 years and hunted there extensivly and never saw a coin like this,
it looks much more like some type of European copper from the mid 1800 - 1900 time period, profile would be the ruler at that time.
Very worn, it does not look fake, but of no value because of its condition.
just my 2 cents

Matejko got it. I like the coin alot. It's nice looking and when I first saw it looked real to me also. Do you remember were it came from. It is in nice shape for 200 plus yrs I think. Date or not it show's no corrosion and has been spent alot over time.

There's always some good people on here willing to help out.

Congrats on now knowing you have a 200 yr old coin.

Great job Matejko!! The question remains.....Is it real?
Is there any way to see if its real or fake ???
Hi, Jake !

Probably it is real.

Those coins were made of metal that came from old cannons, bells etc.
That was some sort of recycling.
That's why varieties of colour may exist. Some of them (like your's) look like made of noble metal. Some look like gold...

To say the truth, nobody knows what were these coins made of....
Krause catalogue says that they were made of bronze, but I think it's because even Krause could not name the metal that coin is made of... ;D
Which does not mean that your coin is not silver.

So, let's say that your coin is real, even if it's a fake, it's a forgery with epoch.
Cool, anyway !! :o
