Hey everyone I found this stuff all within 15 feet of my 1909 Drei Mark german silver coin.:headbang::headbang::headbang:
The inside of the ring is stamped with '800' I'm assuming its 800/1000 silver. Can anyone help me find out the time period which this was made? The stone is clearly missing and besides the 800 stamp the design consists of leafs and an Acorn mirrored on each side. Kind of looks like an Owl face when stamped into silly puddy...

After I filled in the hole where I found the ring about 5 feet away I got a hit and this is what I found. Its obviously an old fork but I was a little confused on the metal it was made of. I don't think its silver based on the fact that my detector says its not. It registers at the same lvl as gold on my Garrett 150 and I know its not gold so I'm assuming its Brass. Any info on the time period or design/maker would be a big help. This site is far from done so I will be back there to collect all the other lost and forgotten items. I can sense a silver horde :):) thanks for all your help in advance!!

You are correct about the 800 mark being silver, this is more common on jewelry from parts of Europe and with that and the design of it I'd guess it was also German (like your coin) and would guess to be roughly the age of the coin as well. It's not dissimilar to ones German soldiers might have had made back then, but I'm not inferring that it's military by any means, just making the comparison.
The fork was likely silver plated, as brass is used as a base for silver to stick to.

Beautiful setting - worth putting a stone in it. My guess would be mid to late 1800s.

If ANYONE can verify that this is an early 1800's 800 silver ring. For a baby or a toe or verify anything about it Id be very happy. I can not find anything. One thing I have figured out if you press either side of the design of the acorne and leafe into silly uddy it creats the image of an Owl...Ill even post a video to prove it. As of now ive been told European early 1800's missing stone and 800 silver count.

Cool ring! I'd guess it's closer to turn of the 20th C. Maybe as old as mid-19th... Acorns and oak leaves may be the clue. Those Victorians were absolutely wacky about symbolism.

Are there spots where the prongs held the stone in place? A good jeweler should be able to tell you more about it. Go to the mall and find some old guy behind the counter...

I'm also seeing acorn and oak leaf motifs. Yes the late victorians we're very influenced by the shapes found in nature. I'm only guessing it came from maybe the black forest region of Germany. :dontknow:
