I'm not sure they had shells like that in 1901? They might have.

From what I can gather from the pages I've linked for you,..here is a quote:

WINCHESTER
(formerly New Haven Arms from 1860 to 1866. From 1866 to 1932 operated as The Winchester Repeating Arms Company until it was purchased by Western in 1932. 1932 became Winchester Western which lasted until 1944. In 1944 Olin Industries re-organized the company in to Winchester Western Division of the Olin Industries)

It seems that the shell is from 1866 - 1932. Probably the 1901 is a date on it. They don't come out and say it is but it's probably from about that time frame.

If anyone know for sure on this please comment for vwayne1.

Thanks alot darod, I went through a few pages and found out that this shell was produced from 1901 till 1920, and that they all say 1901. I guess I need to check this park a little closer. Thanx.
