UMC co. 12 gauge prior to merge with Remington.
REM-UMC no. 12 after merge
WRA co. no 12 Rival prior to merge with Winchester
Winchester no.12 New Rival after merge
All four shot with the same shotgun. The firing pin is quit distinctive.Neat fact is that all 4 were shot around a ridge towards the stagecoach road.

I would imagine that the shells from the stagecoach era would be brass tubes and not low-base brass....could be wrong though.

You are right. Full brass was first and very often sent empty for the user to load and reload, but if you look under paper loads you will find these cheaper and sometimes easier to get loads. Good catch. The earliest date is the UMC which made ammunition for the Union Army. My earliest date is 1866ish.
