I finally got 2 hours to hunt the old graduation area behind a local school built in 1818 and found my first two old coins. 1907 indian head and a Coronet One cent coin. Not sure of the date on the Coronet, but I know they were made between 1816 and 1857.

It's a great time when you can find 2 nice coins. Congrats.

awesome finds fella!!!

Nice finds, but you got yourself a braided hair large cent.

Oh it's a braided large cent thanks for letting me know. I am going to try to get back to that area saturday for a longer hunt.

No problem. I'd get back there quick!!

Congrats on the braided hair large cent.

Oooh yeah ! ;-)

Wow. Those are some nice finds! That design I believe is more 1840s and 1850s so at least you can have a date span of the design

Thanks. I hope to find something older considering when the school was built and the original building is still being used, but most that could be found is probably cover in asphalt or cement now.

Great finds, you're lucky to have old schools like that in your area. Here in Charlotte schools are only good for jewelry. Any old schools(we have none nearly that old) have been hunted dry of silver years ago.
