Please help me with a round about date for this ring. Hoping someone will know something about the style. We have an old home place on our property that was built in the 40s or 50s and there was an even older place there beforehand from the early 1900s. We found this ring in a washed out area of the driveway after a hard rain. We thought at first that it was a class ring but there are no markings, just the pivots in the band where perhaps there was once stones...Thank you for your assistance. Just a little less dirt :)

would be helpful to know the metal, the style really doesnt help date it. identifying marks on the inside would, but without those it would be difficult. if you have a scratch stone, knife sharpening stone, or relatively smooth rock you can scratch it gently accross there and look at the color. brass or gold would be a very yellow color, silver would look like pencil lead, etc. I use a piece of frosted black glass for my testing. if it doesnt leave a mark easily it is a more durable but cheaper metal. if it does leave a mark, probably best to take it to a pawn shop, coin store, jeweler, or one of those "we buy gold" places and ask them to test it for gold/silver
