Hi guys....wonder if anyone could give me an opinion on this ring I found at a cellar hole in NH. The site dates from the mid 1700's and was gone by 1900 I would say. The Ring is made from bronze or copper and was gilded in gold with some remaining. There is a red stone that is held in by a small copper disc at the back of the ring. I am guessing this is a mans ring. I know that is is certainly pre 1900....but could it be Georgian? Any thoughts guys?

all the best
Al

My wife used to have a mood ring....

It turned a lovely shade of blue when she was in a good mood...

and when she was upset at me... it left a big freeking red spot on my forehead! :icon_jokercolor:

Im not sure that it is a mood ring. Just posted pic to compare. But it does appear to be gold plated.

Al,

It looks brass (gold plated maybe). The style seems Victorian (signet shape). May be from late 19th century.

Nice find!

I felt a responsibility to search for this ring because I posted the Mood ring, which it is not. In 1909 Fall Sears Roebuck and Co. catalogue lists it as a Gold filled Carbuncle. I think is Garnet...not sure.
