Was out hunting the other day probing for some possible civil war railroad outbuildings in Northern, Virginia near Washington D.C. where the old part of the railroad tracks use too lay around the civil war too late 1800s ! Came across a noticeable depression in the ground and couldn't tell if it was from someone else dug it out or not.. Detected around the depression and got huge iron signals so I decided too dig into it and started too hit old 19th century bricks about 10 inches in the ground...
Spent 45 minutes digging it out til i got are first signal which was a D&H button (Delaware and Hudson railway) then got a PB&W button ( Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Railroad). Hunted a very small area after digging out the old outbuilding and found a New York City button, a 1898 Russian coin. My thoughts it was a late 19th century train stop. Hopefully I can hit it hard again next week.
Oh I also scored a busted up eagle button so i am hoping I am near this suppose civil war supply outbuilding spot I been researching but sometimes its good too dig non civil war relics had no problem with that!!
