I have been able to find watches that are similar to the one that I have attached in the photos, but none that have the 6 medals down the right side. It has the number "65230" inscribed on it. Does anyone know more about this watch?

What is the name on the dial? Is there anything on the movement? Usually the case doesn't tell much about he watch. I think the medals are awards won by the watch Co ?

Thank you Don. I was not able to find any mention of old pocket watches on this site. I think this is only for their new lines of watches.

Also,I am trying to determine if the watch is actually gold or if Medailles d'or is just a name and not really "of gold".. made of gold

I’m thinking the watch maker won six gold medals at some kind of expo. There was one in milan in 1906 that featured a lot of watch makers. So that manufacturer won six medals and put it on his cases. People do the same thing today - just think car advertisements that run through a bunch of awards.

As to the metal content of that specific watch case - it should be marked. If not, then take it and have it tested. The majority I come across are gold filled but solid gold ones are not uncommon.

Yeah it’s definitely that - awards from an expo. I found one online.
