Old pocket spill & more!
On my last hunt 2 days ago I hit 3 old locations and couldn't even dig a wheat. It was one of those days where you just walk around frustrated and cursing, wondering if there's something wrong with your MD.
Well today made up for it...I was still cursing, but in disbelief, like "holy shxt, I don't believe it". I went back to my little tried and true island, that has recently produced some older wheats, some silver and a Buffalo. The spot where I dug my first silver there seemed like a good place to start and right away I hit a nice deep penny tone. Sure enough up pops a wheat at 7"... so I probe the hole again with th DX-1 and get another good signal, then another and another and another....By the time I finished I had pulled
7 wheats and a Merc from my first plug. I spent the next hour slowly scanning every sq. foot within 20 ft. of this spot without any luck, so I walked around the other side of the island. After another hour of clad I decided to recheck the area of the pocket spill and within 15' of that spot I hit the 2nd Merc. How I missed it before I don't know...but I figured if I missed this one then I could have missed more, ..and I did...got the Rosie at 4" and the other 4 wheats (oldest 1919) all within 20' of the spill. Like I said in a previous post, this park has been pounded for 35 years so I guess it goes to prove that no place is ever hunted out.
