I found some cool old gun parts in an old tackle box of a coworker's recently deceased father's basement a couple years ago. She told me to grab everything I wanted, otherwise it goes to the dumpster. In the tackle box was the trapdoor of an 1873 trapdoor Springfield riffle. In a zip lock bag was the trigger guard, trigger, and two parts. One part, the weird shaped bent metal piece is definitely from the Springfield based on the letter marking, the other piece looks to be from a more modern gun, and is marked with a small circle with "SA" inside it (any ideas what type of gun it may be off of?). There was also a small screw in the bag, probably from the Springfield. In the tackle box was another cool gun part, a percussion cap pistol barrel. I tried to measure the barrel with a ruler, it looks to be a .30 caliber shot. I am not sure though if it is reproduction or original though, and don't know much about guns. Part of the barrel is very shiny, part of it has some light rust. The screw that attaches the percussion cap thing doesn't seem to be original, it it a little bit too long to have it fit there tightly. What do you think this barrel is from, and is it even original?
