Looks like it might be from the Victorian time period. I will bump this post for you.

Do you know what it is made out of ?

Maybe brass or copper. Its thin and very light.

interesting , i found half of a sash buckle a while back that had etchings like that around the edge.
with the attatchments on the back i can believe hutts ID as a victorian pin.
maybe heat it in some boiling water and try to gently straighten it out .
