My Son and I got out for an hour hunt today at a local school . I have not had much luck at this location but was willing to try again . Only 10 minutes into the hunt I had a strong +26 VDI at 3 inches . I had ring number 67 for the year ! It's was a silver plated ring with 3 purple stones . Later in the hunt I had a target at 7 inches that was all over the place . When I found the target it looked like it had some kind of design on it so I put it in my good finds bag . At the end of the hunt had found one more kids ring , #68 . Also found a deep marble .
When I was cleaning my finds I saw the small piece of metal with flowers on it . I wiped it with my finger and I saw it was silver ! It is marked sterling and also has " & Co. " on it . Could it have said Tiffany & Co. ? It looks old , not sure what is , but I'll take ! Total clad was $3.79 .

Nice collection of finds you have there! That silver piece has me baffled? Part of a sterling makeup case? Perhaps the part of a sterling silver cigarette case? It looks old, early 1900's, late 1800's.

I've found several pieces that look like that. Very thin. Almost looks like the sterling was wrapped around a heavier piece of base metal. I still have no clue what the are from. Marked sterling so that's a good thing.

Well done. Congratulation!

Can you get a close-up photo of the hallmarks or give a discription of the marks you can see?

I found a piece of silver like that once. Mine a little more intact I always thought it was part of a hairbreadth.

I did that in my post . It says sterling on the right and " & Co " on the left .

I wonder if the silver belonged on a hair comb or pin or something. Very ornate.
