glad I found this post..I have a very similar item.......does yours curve back in on the end...tough to tell from the picture.........
mine has a crown on it....and Im thinking its something military.......a clasp or something....mine also has a hole right in the middle....it was found with other late 1700s-early 1800s stuff.......
