Place is long gone. Mafia ran it as a casino and whorehouse in the early 1900's. It was a resort before that. Hurricanes wiped it out several times. Area is believed to have been a Jesuit outpost and before that an Indian seafood camp. We are down to hunting for relics. Seems to be slim pickings left on $$$.

Dam near a jungle now. Bush hooks and machetes required.

Back where those trees are, about 4-5 ft deep.

Red, was it there when that photo was shot? That would put it in the pirate or confederate range. Did you get a gold or silver hit?

i have found gold coin cache under 7 feet underground near the tree shown by arrow

Thanks guys. Never ceases to amaze me. I will keep you posted on results. Any info on size or container?

I had picked up gold, think there might have been a little bit of silver or ssomething made of silver. I'll have to go back and check...seemed a good hit, whether a mixed types of treasure cache or not. It is real close to one of the trees which was there when the photo was taken. If you can locate any of the original trees near the cache, would get you in the ballpark.

I checked again and got coins. Enlarged to crop the area of the cache, marked it better with an arrow. It seems to have been there at the time photo was taken...should still be there.

When you look at the photo, it is hard to believe it looks like a jungle now as nice as the grounds were then.

I had to shut down for a while, got a little break in the weather. The tornado watch boxes are all still north and southwest of here.

I noticed there appears to be water in the background. Looks like a wall is there also. When checking the depth, was giving to the top of the container. I had got about 7 ft for the treasure. I get gold where the arrow points to, still get a signal on the X also. It is on the center of the X where the shallower depth reading comes from. I was going to check to see if they placed a rock or something non-metallic over the cache, but forgot, so can't tell you yet.

Ok, a cache marker 4-5 ft deep where the center of the X is, then the cache is deeper, at the point of the arrow. If that is a wall, looks to be an opening to walk through right straight toward the cache.

I just took a look opening the photo in my software program. This is even more interesting...not an opening in a wall, it is the head of a man standing there, must be a sidewalk behind the spot with a tree in front side of cache. Maybe this location was important to the mafia. Is really hard to see for sure, sidewalk could be in front of the tree, cache.

Hello fenixdigger,
My dowse also revealed a gold target(s) and some silver in the area of the green circles.
There were 2 other attraction points on the ground as marked by the thin green v shaped line.
This line represents the solar and reflection rays of the target or there is more than one item there.
I'm going to ask you some questions in a pm.
Thanks for posting your picture,
Jon

You can see the main hotel over the man's back about 1,000 ft back. There are also 2 bldgs. on the upper left side. Sidewalks ran all through here. There are fountains and gazebos all in between the bldgs. The "pool" was stocked with fish from the Gulf for guests to catch.

This was a heck of a place. Imagine, no access other than a boat or RR, way out in the country, no law around, a sinners paradise. Oh yea.

Now the moccasins and rattlers vacation there trying to avoid the wild hogs and other toothy critters.

Hi! fenixdigger,
Just thought I would chime in here and ask if there was a way you can get a picture of what this area looks like now.
Since your hunting it, it might do you better for us to see how it looks now. ;D
I know I sure would like to see what it looks like today!

I sure will. Here's a shot of another place there. It all looks about the same. Notice the alligator line in the bottom picture. Yep, one's on there.
