Detector(s) used
XP Deus II v0.6 with 11" Coil
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Nice weather for detecting, dry with a cool wind.
I'm continuing my strategy of gridding 2 of the least done fields on this old permission. In this field I thought I would get a hammered before a Roman Silver, but I'm sure one will come out soon. At least I feel I'm climbing the ladder in the right direction.
4.5 hours (Solo, longest I've done in a while):

4 Scrappies
2 Lead Tokens
Hunts Button - Boars head
1st C AD Roman Fibula Catchplate
1887 3-Pence
A strange Forgery (I think) of either a James II or W&M Tin & Copper Plugged Halfpenny. When wet I can see the Britannia, but the Obverse doesn't match either options, plus its a little small & more Lead looking than Tin.
Plated Roman Silver (Contemporary Forgery) - had a huge build up on the Obverse, picked most of it off but can't ID the Head.

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

UPDATE:

This morning after the coin had dried I added some museum wax to protect it & then noticed the double head of William & Mary (only produced for 3 years in the Regal Tin & copper plug), so I have an ID on the Counterfeit.
The Regal coins are extremely rare in EF condition and are worth about £3000, they even book in Fair condition close to £100 (all book prices normally stop at Fine condition).
I've pictured 3 Regal examples, to show normal condition (& these are the best ones found) & a picture of the counterfeit which is somewhat better! This is the opposite of most counterfeit finds because they tend to use cheaper metal.

Looks like the forger one up'd the regal mint in quality?...wow and only 3 years of minting...I would imagine that would be a very rare find! Very cool Cru'!

Not so much quality, as it was a higher Lead content, more stable than Tin (Regal) in ground conditions.
