Still a little windy after the storm hit last night but the warmer weather & rain unfroze the ground. Sticky under foot but not too bad.
This is the field I scouted by myself last week after exploring 7 fields. Nothing exciting but a good start & a fair indication of better things to come. I've learnt that these big fields that were always fields (ie. not Sites) in the Roman times, do have good finds but you need to grid a huge area. Now's the time to take that gamble, I'm sure to get a hammered but I'm hoping for a Roman Silver. (or a long shot Celtic coin)

Looks like you were digging with Blossom & Himself. 😆
Similar finds. I always like the buttons and thimbles. They are a sign of former habitation and aren’t usually isolated finds. I see them as a sign that says, “you’re in the right area.” Thanks and best wishes.

Cru', you're in the right country for a Celtic find.... :)

Thanks for the post Cru.
Slow gridding is my method too. I can't imagine trying to grid a large field unless I had years to do it.
Congrats on the finds,
MM

Actually I'm a fast gridder, walking faster than most & digging signals quickly is the key. Beep/dig/pouch 30 secs or less is a must for a large area. Never on my knees, no pin pointer is also important.
