Hey buckshot! Nice! I've seen those old postcards, but to see them displayed bigger and all grouped together, brings a new appeciation for them. what beautiful old buildings. It's a shame they are gone. Looking forward to more pictures :hello2:

Where were the 'Union' and 'Franklin' Schools located, Buckshot?
I think its such a shame that they demolished the old high school---It looks so bare without it. I love the facades on the older buildings, they had so much more "character" than the newer ones do.

Hey,sc. The Union school was located between 6th and 7th and Rogers and Revard streets. It fronted 7th street. The Franklin school was located between 12th and 13th and Grandview and Leahy streets.
I think it may have fronted 12th street. The pic of Union school "I believe is misnamed" and is actually a picture of the old Century school. It was located between 6th and Main and Farrell and Pearson streets.

The last time I was through Barnsdall, their school was still standing.
The old gradeschool is gone but the HS is still there. North of Gilbert's Field House you can see the stairs leading to the old-old school. The old school in Persian looks to be in great shape and is church I think. I went to head start there lol!!! Funny enough my son and I were looking around behind the football field and the old scoreboard is half buried. I was told the old football field was in this area.
