Although this land is called a Park, its not the typical Public type, just some grass land with a few larger trees. The cows are now in for the winter & the grass is manageable.
This land is directly behind a large 18th C Manor House & it includes 2 old fish ponds associated with the house. This is the field I got my Gold Half Guinea last year, so its worth a closer look.
My plan was to grid the area between the ponds & the house. I did this for 3 hours & 15 minutes (Dad joined me for about 1 hour), with very little success other than a good Livery Button.

Crusader,

Well you made some finds....I'm sure the gridding will help you turn up a few surprises....good luck on the return trip.

A little unusual for your hunting grounds.... People who lived there were a bit chintzy, aren't they? I like the livery button!

CRU, Brotha ya got some more cool finds, I'd love to be able to spend just one day hunting a place like you hunt...
Just those finds would make my day....................................HH

Good luck on your next hunt Crusader! Congrats, nice button:icon_thumleft:

Good luck, there might be some more silver or gold

With what came out of the field before you definitely have to put in the time just to make sure. You just never know .....

Yeap, sometimes you have to cover a large area (which I'm now expecting), sometimes you beeline it(no gridding just sniffing out where to go/start) straight to the Gold Coin on the first try of the field (30 minutes into the hunt).

If I've learned one thing about this hobby in 20 years, it's that anything can really be anywhere...just some places it's much, MUCH more likely to be. Never a bad idea to follow up on a great "randomly dropped" find with some dedicated working of the area with a searchcoil.

Cheers,

Buck
