Got off work a little early today and hunted an old park with my Dad. I made out pretty good I think... pretty sure I got two silver pieces there, even though they are not marked. 3 wheaties and a One Pound British coin (1984). The almond thingy must have been some kind of pin or broach. I wanted to take a picture of my trash as well... I kept pulling up these little pieces of aluminum fencing, even though there is NO fence at this park. That's all the time I have for stories... gotta play trains with my son!

Pics!

Proof that you can find arrowheads with a metal detector!

Great hunt buddy, today was nice - too bad I had to work!!!

Yep. nice digs!

If the fence bits are from standard cyclone fence, then it's a good bet that used to be a ballfield. Got a park here where you have to love digging those things to get the goodies dropped from the 50's through the 80's, though there's little other evidence of the ballfield remaining. Looks like you had some people wearing gawdy earrings around there, too.

Yep, that was a beautiful day for a hunt. Nice scores there RM, You did way better than I did. (81 coins dug and not even a wheat cent.) :icon_scratch: That silver bracelet piece appears to be hand made and not all are Hallmarked. It would be cool to have it made into a ring.

Nice finds Brett!
I used to be able to get a little morning hunt before work, but with my commute time it's just turning light when I leave in the morning and dark when I start heading home. Weekends are all I got now... :'(

Ditto.

Hey Brett, that silvery-looking ball you found kind of looks more like pewter, but the other item definitely appears to be silver. At least you dug wheats! That's about the best I can find out of parks these days. Nice job!

The arrowhead deal is definitely half of a bracelet, broken on the arrowhead side. Thanks man!

Thanks Lowbatts! Yep the fence bits SEEM like the standard fencing.. but most of them where 'S' or 'Z' shape pieces. On the '39 flyover images, I don't see any ballfield in the area... it's very strange. These fence bits sound and hit like screw tops a little...

Yup I was stoked finding my first skeleton key. It may be rusty but it's all mine! Thanks Kimsdad!

Yes I was expecting it to be much colder but it was nice. I was really wishing I had brought my small coil when I heard the onslaught of targets in that field! OMG what the heck was going on there, a century of circus patrons? The bracelet piece could be made into a ring I suppose... it would be a little large though I think.

Thanks Mike! Yeah I don't understand why the winter time sucks so much. Can you get out during lunch time?

Hi Joe! I thought maybe pewter too because of the molded circular pieces that are soldered together... but the piece actually has some darkening on the bottom in one spot much like silver would have, and it also has a turquoise piece of corrosion under the "threaded" insert at the top. I also did the paper test, and it did not leave a mark. Pewter is essentially Tin, and should leave a mark on paper when used like a pencil - or so I read.
