Old or Modern?

I found this glass piece in the Florida surf at a known shipwreck location. It appears to be reinforced with chicken wire. Is this reinforced glass old or modern? From ship, boat or house? Can anyone tell me anything about it?

I have seen safety glass like that. The wire is cast inside the glass. Put in door windows, etc. Seems like in the 1930-50 time period.

found these for sale. Windows from the original Con Ed plant in manhatten. Sort of similar, but almost looks as tho the chicken wire in the windows is larger. Pictures at that page say turn of the century but I would think that windows and glass like that would probalby still be made. I am by far an expert tho

Thanks everyone. Is it still made today SWR? It seems that I have seen this type glass in a jail cell many years ago. I think my old high school also had it.

I didnt realize it was actually called "chicken wire glass" and a lot of people are looking for this hard to find stuff on Bobvilla.com to replace older broken windows. TN is quite educational. Here are some 19th century chickenwire glass panels on eBay.
