It's called a "Great Coat Button" I think it dates post civil war Not sure,, Someone will know..

The back should read: "United States"

If I recall correctly (IIRC) this pattern dates to circa 1830. They find those around here around Fort Winnebago.

Yep a great coat button from around the 1830's. A cool find. I believe the backmark is UNITED STATES on that button

Yes, your right,, I slept a few times since them though :tongue3:
Sold it for $60,, was to cheap for sure..I was in excellent shape.
