Looks like a pole fitted something for sure.

Overly plain for a spontoon, but maybe a spud for opening holes in the ice or some type of kiln tool?

It's a spud for removing bark from a log......at least I'm pretty sure it is.

It may be some type of spade. There were many with similar shape, hodding spade, dung spade, beet spade,shepherds spade, perennial spade. The perennial spade in pic has 4 1/2 " wide blade and is still made. Have also seen them with 6" blade.

Yes, it does look like somekinda spade. It was found on a homesite from the 1920's. Thanks to all for their help with this.
