Could possibly be an Egyptian revival pendant from around the period after the discovery of King Tut's tomb.
I have my doubts. What type of material is it?

I think I've got it! Maybe the word on the back is TAKOAGE, and it's a Kite Dragonfly Pendant. There is a Takoage Kite Fighting Festival in Japan every year, and the earliest one dates back to the 16th century. This could possibly be the 'winners' medal! :icon_thumleft: Breezie

I cleaned up the pendent and added a picture, the letters on the back are alvage, what appeared to be an S before the a is a symble not a letter?

Thanks for the better pic. I hope someone solves this. I found Savagesalvage jewelry, Jae Salvage and several companies with salvage in the name but no match.

Is it silver? It looks like an amulet.

Thanks for looking, if you look at the new picture what I thought was an S appears to be a symbol or maybe an enhanced X, what do you think?

Thanks

Hard to tell in the pic. The letter after l concerns me. It may not be a v. Almost looks like p in the last pic.

I realize the size, and the fact you are calling it a "pendant," but it looks kind of heavy. Is it light weight enough to wear around the neck, or is it heavy like a door knocker or something? Otherwise, at present I have no clue on the imagery, except it definitely looks foreign. :dontknow:

Thanks.

No it only weighs 8 grams and is 1''long, I think it is a pendent of some kind, it went off like silver on my detector it probably is silver, silver get black around hear in the salt water.

Sometimes first impressions are the best!

My first impression was that the word is Spanish!

But until someone (not me) can determine exactly what the letters are, it may keep us going in circles! Even thought what appears to be an X is in a circle, it may still be part of the word as in Xanadu. :dontknow:

Nice find! Your reference to salt sounds like you found it at the beach.

I realize I may be trying to make something out of nothing here, and my only reason for posting the picture below is to suggest that the bottom part of the pendant is a bell shaped flower. I know that these type of flowers are hummingbird's favorite sources of nectar, and that it may be a clue. However, if it is a hummingbird on your pendant, the little guy has the wrong end sticking into the flower! :dontknow:

My guess is still a Native American amulet. But I think the key to solving this is googling the letters. Is it possible to post a close up of the lettering? Im concerned about the 4th letter. It doesnt look like a "v". Could it be a "p"? Do you have a macro lens for closeups?macro.jpg I cant see it very well.

The first letter looks like an Old English "S".
