Civil! Cool looking green marble there!

I saw you posted in my "today's finds" and said you also found a marble... here is my marble and the reply I got from duffytrash about it...

I don't know a damned thing about them at all...

hey jim that there is a bennington marble..a better one with the multi color...the "eyes" on it were made by the mibs touchin each other during the salt glazing..probably made in germany in the mid to late 1800s...some were made in akron ohio, but by then the glass marble industry was beginnin...nice antique marble but not to valuable maybe 2-5$ for the fancies..bigger the better..that one looks to be less than 3/4 inch...ive seen em 1-3/8 plus...

A Google search might be helpfull... there are lots of links out there.

According to my 2004 marble book you have a green solid opaque value $35 in good cond. it should measure 5/8" in diameter. no date was given but mid to late 19th century is likely. the 1&3/4" dia. shooter is worth $800.

there is a green opaque marble worth some big bucks but alas the one you show isnt one...the persion jade marble has a definate nine in the glass where it was hand gathered and spun while cooling to shape the glass. what you have there is a chinese checker marble and the value is very minimal ...
