I'm trying to identify this antique looking urn that I originally purchased at an estate sale for around $30 about 3-4 years ago. I had originally tried to find something about it, but was unlucky in my findings and gave up. I recently decided that I was determined to find out what I have and if it is of any real value or if it has any historical significance. I tried finding masks that are like the figures on the lid of the urn, but I was unable to find an exact match.

Without the lid the urn stands at around 7 inches with a diameter opening of around 4.5 inches.

The only markings I was able to find on the entire urn were located on the underside of the urn which was the letter "K."

It looks to be an Ashanti bronze kudou from Ghana.

The figure in the center is a tribal chief and he is surrounded by villagers.

It may be valuable. I suggest you take it to a reputable antique dealer.

Its a neat piece. I like how one guy is playing a flute, another carrying an axe or war club, another seems to have a book, perhaps the other plowing with those two sticks?
Very interesting.
