Nice finds! That lock and key looks like it could be a railroad switch lock and key. Is there any markings on them?

Nice find/s~

Nice lock and key. Also sweet barber. You are having way too much fun. ;) :D

I'm glad you clarified the IH. Looks like an dirt disc. What, did you just clean the date part? :D

That's a great lock, Greenie......with a key.....you can't beat that....unless you found it attached to a treasure chest. ::)

Nice coins, too. I'm going to find one of those barbers this year! :-\

Very nice. The coins are great, but that lock and key are fantastic. Having the key that fits the lock must make the pair worth a little money, huh? Yes, me thinks so.

mirage,, i usually let them dry for a day b4 trying anything on them, but this 1 was with wheats, so i knew it wasn't old,, so i used my thumbnail on it, then some spit.

i found if they dry 4 a day the dirt kinda flakes off..... ;D ;D ;D

Congrats on such a great find.A lock with the key in it and it still works...Cool!
It looks to be in nice condition and easily cleaned.Any markings on it at all?
And oh ya...nice job on the silver to.

Just finding the key would have been cool...but the combo is way better! Congrats on the silver too!

Happy Hunting,
Moon

That lock & key is really neat especially finding it with the key in and working condition. Good job on the coins also.

Now that's very cool, the lock looks old
and it's sweet that you found the key too.
Congrats on the silvers also. Happy New Year Rick!

Smiles!

I'm a railroader and I've been told by oldtimers that guys used to take the locks off of switches and throw them in the woods or weeds so they wouldn't have to keep unlocking and locking up the switches they throw. That switch would go without a lock until some official noticed it didn't have one and he would get it replaced. You might look around some more if there was a switch in the area, it's hard to say how many switches got tossed.
