This was found in the Texas Hill Country at a homesite that dates back to 1860's. It is cast iron and appears to be a base of something. Just by chance I was wondering if anyone seen this item and can ID it to a specific item. It has two patterns that repeat all the way around. I put through 2 days of electrolysis and cleaned it up with a brass wire brush. Thanks for taking a look.

Looks like the base to the cast iron receipt stakes that were in old stores, hotels, etc

At 4 1/2 inches it could be the base for a lamp, tabletop birdcage stand or any item that used a base of that size. I'm thinking it might not be a receipt stake since the center mounting hole is fairly large, but it could be. The cross piece with center hole seems it would hold some type of rod for a lamp or stand. The pattern is not significant to its ID. The era is 1880's to the turn of the century. Neat find :) Breezie
