Old knife blade found along Ohio river

Can anyone ID this blade? Measures 6 inches total. Approx 1/16 inch thick and tapers towards tip.

Hello oldbattleaxe, it appears the blade could be handmade since there is no makers mark. The short tang(handle end) and the half- drilled hole are puzzling. It does not seem to be a very strong design because there is not much handle to support the blade with heavy use. very curious....

Notice the hole has excessive wear on one side, typical of a folding knife. It is just too large to be a folding knife. The Buck blades all have a groove to open the blade with your nail.

I dont know how big this blade is,but it does look like a folding bowie blade to me.I have seen these with 8" blades by the way

Battleax my camera isnt working or I would send you an image of one I have that is almost exact to yours,clipped point and all,but here is one that is 16",if you google search folding bowie images there is a plethora.

The american bowie knife was inspired after the Navaja clip knife. Interested in knowing how it wound up on the Ohio River near Nelsonville Ohio while hunting. I would also like to date the blade. Thanks for your help
