This was found by a friend of mine in the chesapeake bay . It looks like a knife blade but what is the half moon on the other end ? Thanks for looking .
Old Knife ??? Any Ideas ?

I'm not an expert, but I think a rifle-mounted bayonet. the halfmoon cutout would be where it fastened to the barrel.
