It looks like an old weight from an old scale.

I eyeballed that in your original post,and initially it struck me as a piece I see on hand mid 19th century tools like hoes,rakes,etc.Its a collar that holds imward pressure on a tang which is attached to said implement......I think

Not sure if seeing it in person would help or not. It could be anything. Could be something that broke that someone reworked into something else. Culd have been something no longer used that was reworked. My grandfather and his buddies used to do that all the time. That generation did t throw things out, they were the first real recyclers.

Is it hollow all the way through, or is one end solid? I can't really tell from the pictures.
