Are you sure it is from a weapon? Looks like part of an elbow catch.

This thing is not a gun part. It may look like the "DOG" or safety latch on the above flintlock, but it looks more like some sort of cabinet latch part.
BTW, thats a beautiful circa 1700 gun!

Yup its an old cabinet latch for sure just a little beat up. I had a friend find one a while back and he was convinced it was part of a musket lock but his was missing the mounting plate. Here's one on a cabinet in my front room.....

I dunno NOLA K.. that kinda looks like a gun latch to me :)

Heh, I had to actually bring the guy into the house and show him the cabinet to convince him. On that note I found something that's kind of gun hammery.... I'm going to take a pic and post it in a new thread. I think it's likely part of a lock or latch too though.
