Found this point on Christmas Day 06,...................when a field is hot its hot.............and somehow got lucky enough to have rain the day before......so I had to get one Christmas Day insitu from that place
This year will be my 9th year of hunting the field
This is a Woodland point I dont have any good pictures of,but it has nice flaking for Woodland/......................
It kind of got over shadowed by the Dalton found there on the same day.............
Quarry site...............
A football size field of gold laying in the Ozarks..........and I'AM the Looter.... ;D
Hopewell at its finest or not....... :headbang:

Thanks.............
Odd Christmas....................I found that point 1-3/8
And I found a Dalton point.1-3/8 long too!
Plus they were both made from a dense color chert,,,which reflects lighter in Insitu's.........
It is a Woodland point.........................
What does anyone think of the Hopewell term,,,,,at least the Ozark Hopewell?
I have a good Synder point from another site.................
BUT during that time period the Gary Culture were at their peak...........
Even though I know the Synder/Hopewell culture did vist N.W.Ark..................they did not venture far in my neck of the woods and never did the Synder/Hopewell get into N.E.Texas...
They like the Reeds Spring chert..............
And yes I think the Caddoan -Gary culture led them around as guest....and they never settled in the area to much....................only hunting certain areas with Gary Culture,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and most points were found in Shelters.........

Good stuff! I am still new to all this and i get too excited when i find something and pick it up right away. Only then realizing i have blown another chance at a good insitu shot.
thanks for the look,
Viking.

Yeah it is good to look back on them................

The soil was frozen over by Sunset that day.................a cold N.W. wind was blowin that Christmas afternoon...........
