........ During the survey, Smith saw the small lake, now called Gilbert Lake, several small creeks, low hills, wild hops, and cherry trees. In his journal, he also mentioned seeing good sites for mills and bottom lands for farming. He undoubtedly saw the Indian campsites on Otego Creek and the Indian apple orchard at the mouth of the Otego Creek. .......

Just for you Sherm........I am going through boxes of files and I try to make sure the websites are working for each topic...or if I can even find a corresponding website.....so it takes a little while... I am sure I am missing more than a few states so far...... ;)

Oklahoma? I live in Indian Territory. Should be lots of references.

We need to change this to Gypsyheart's Forum. ;D

LOL....No it can remain recommended reading.....over the years I have acquired masses of written material, diaries, geneologies, journals, files, and books on a varied array of subjects. I am trying to eliminate these paper files and put them into the computer.....as I find topics that I think will interest or help other treasure hunters and history buffs, I first see if I can find any info on the net and if I can find a link for these written materials....then I post them for the rest of you to share, in hopes that forum readers will also add their links to these catagories. I hate spending all day looking for something...so if we can keep adding information..it makes it alot easier for other researchers..

My hat's off to you, Gypsy! You're doing a great job and service to everyone here!
Cheers!
