I’d guess a wheel hub of some type. The 5 hole bolt pattern looks pretty standard.

It's the center part of a "Military Style" automotive wheel from the mid 1930s, similar to the ones in the following link.

If you look at the photos of the back of the wheels you will see how they are assembled to the rim and they're very similar to the one you have found.
