I haven't posted any finds lately so here is some from an hour and a half hunt today. IT WAS HOT and the humidity was about 90% we have had over 20 inches of rain for the month of July and the yards are still soft. I had recieved permission to hunt the old house you will see in the pix, and hunted it today. The iron level was high and there was many surface coins. I only dug the surface coins on one side of the yard and will go back and see what I can find under the trash on the other side next week. I ended the hunt with 32 coins 3 merks, 2 roseys and 12 wheats. Got a nice silver ring with a shiny black stone ??????? and several clad , 2 keys and a few pieces of junk. I hope you enjoy

Les

It might be markasite . I don't think that is the proper spelling but phoneticly it sound like it!!

Nice haul on the silver!

Steve

Nice haul. Just one question. Now did you find all that ,dig and cover your holes in an hour and a half? My knees and digger must be wore out! It would take me a half day to do that. D.D.

good job on the silver !!! old homes are where i do most of my hunting. when i ask for permission, i ask to hunt the front yards only for two reasons.....1) most people will grant you permission to hunt the front yard, but they are'nt as comfortable with someone they don't know coming into thier back yard. 2) the few back yards that i have hunted have never really produced many good finds.

Congrats on the silvers. That stone in the ring looks like a nice one in your pics. I'd have a jewler look at it and tell "us" what it is. Just curious.

That is a great looking place to hunt. I tend to hunt older homes most of the time as well. Once you get the front yard going they usually grant permission to continue on. Especially after you show them your digs in the front yard. Nice finds as well. WTG :) jgas

Thats what i was thinking.

nice silvers! As far as the stone on your ring it can be a black alaskan diamond

If the stone is metalic looking and more grey than black, I'd bet on it being Hematite.

Quite a nice haul you got there!!!

Nice ring. Those Mercs seem like they're in great shape too. I need to find some sites like that around where I live in Central PA! :icon_scratch:

Wow, very nice silver. That old house seems to have much to offer. Nice ring also. Thanks for sharing, Gl & HH
