I detected this vacant house site on June 15 & 18, this is by far the most modern coins I've ever found at one house :o I just kept digging penny after penny in the front yard! This is where I also found the junk ring, but when it first came up I though for sure I'd found my first gold ring of the year ... but it wasn't to be. :( I finally started making some decent older finds when I moved into the side yard. Nothing great, but I did find a musketball, an 1860 'Lip Burner' Font, a little brass finial, a 1971 Kennedy Half, a 1967 British Penny and a brass doorknob!

Total cash finds $7.10!

Thanks for looking,
Dave

PS. I apologize for the picture quality, I need to get a new phone next week as my old Blackberry's finally had it!
:laughing7:

That house is another beautiful site you have shared with us, Dave. It just looks like there is much waiting for you. Do you think maybe now that you have cleared the clad, you would get the good stuff if you go back and listen for the deeper, faint tones? Thanks for your post. Always nice to read:coffee2:
p.s. Does Canada have any provisions for "homesteading"? I love that house. Maybe I could make it my summer house:laughing7:

That is one of those places that there has to be more. I bet it will take a few trips to find the really good stuff.

Nice nice nice!!! There is more there for sure.

Any half dollar is a good find.

Great looking site, could find almost anything there.

That's a great house and yard! I'm sure once you remove the carpet of modern coins there will be some oldies in there.

Some very nice finds. Old Dude, you might have to fight me for the house. What a beautiful place!! They don't put that much attention to detail these day and if they do it's VERY expensive.

Beautiful house! Just strolling the grounds would be relaxing !
Nice finds your turning up! Congrats!
There are some really nice goodies still there waiting for you!

Your pics make mine look like nothing!

Thanks very much for your kind words and for your post my friend! I definitely want to get back there in the next few weeks ... as you mentioned, maybe the good stuff is just deeper!
Unfortunately, here in Canada we call 'modern homesteaders' squatters and they are removed accordingly! :laughing7: This house has a date with the wrecking ball shortly, so I best not take too long to get back.

It still amazes me how many coins were at this site J! :o
I'm almost afraid to go back for fear of how many I missed the first go round! :icon_scratch:

That's exactly how I feel when I get to hunt a site like this, especially when I make a decent find and look up and see a gorgeous 19thc house like this!
Shame that it's slated for demo shortly, :dontknow:
Dave

cool finds ...

Thanks!

It definitely was a very relaxing site to hunt ... except for the mosquitoes of course! :laughing7:

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Thank you Sir! :icon_salut:
HH,
Dave

I bet there are some old coins at that property.

The oldest coin I found was the '42 Wheatie, although finding the '71 Kennedy Half was sweet!

Not bad, I would hit that yard from every direction. HH!

That certainly seems to be the consensus ... maybe next week, I'll keep you posted!
Thanks for your post,
Dave

Great looking site for sure. There has to be some silver in that yard somewhere.
Nice half though, even if it isn't silver.

Thanks for your post Dave!
The the main concentration of modern coins I found were in the front yard in an area of 20' wide x 50' long across the front portion of the house.
These coins mostly date from the 1970's to to the mid-2000's, it wasn't until I started on the side yard that the 'older relics' started to pop up.
I'm thinking the front of the house had topsoil added and was then over-seeded sometime in the 70's or early 80's. :icon_scratch:

Best of luck to you my friend,
Dave

Awesome finds Dave. That's a whole lot of coinage! :notworthy: Great looking old house.
