I had about an hour of daylight left once the daily thunderstorms rolled through and I was determined to go swingin' somewhere. Went back to the site of an old hotel that I have been told was torn down in the 50's or 60's, the site is a trash nightmare but I have managed one Merc and two old wheats before tonight.

This one tops the list though: According to some quick research, this is a presidential campaign token for James Blaine and John Logan from 1884. Not much monetary value in this token but still a very cool find for me!!

Thanks for lookin'!!!

DK

That is a great find. Sometimes those finds are better than old coins because there is more of a story with them. Keep working that spot over and over again.

WTG on that little piece of history. :icon_thumleft: It is well known who won the elections in those years, but we never remember their opponents as they are quickly forgotten.

that's a awesome token better than a merc any day :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Cool Find DK
I'd say that site holds alot of Potential.

DK,
Tokens are always great to find, and that is a very unusual one. A BIG congrats on a rare find.

Cool Find!
Tokens (with the exception of Chucky Cheese of course ;D) are great finds because they're minted in such low volume, which to me makes them rare.

I'll bet there's a ton of good targets at that site, you'll just have to go real slow, and switch to a small coil. I have a 3" and 5" for my 1266 and am ordering a 5" for my F75. You'll be amazed at all the coins left by others who get discouraged by the trash.

Good Luck!
Mike

Hey Mike,

I was using the 4x6 coil on the DFX for this one. I have hunted this site with the 6x10 in the past and thought I'd take a shot with the 4x6 last night. This token was a solid 7" down and the signal was sketchy at best, high tone in one direction and low to null in the other, but at this site I thought it was worth a look.
