My guess is that it is some sort of id tag off of machinery.

That's what I'm thinking too, just spit it out different. The last word seems French. If I could read the first the company would likely come up on google.

I thought the last word might be "Ludlow" - the town in England? There are a few in the US too.

Can't make out the first name though....does it end in "UGH"?

Think you nailed the Ludlow part, now just the name. Not sure about the end, but looks like G___H, to me anyway.


You must be thinking something like __orough?

I think I make out the top name as "Gough". The name Gough has a lot of citations in search when combined with Ludlow.
Ludlow being in Shropshire, UK.

Not familiar with the name, but that certainly seems to fit.

This ones similar from UKFD..Harness Mount. UK Finds Database - - - UKDFD There was a John henry Gough born in Ireland in 1819. -settled in Canada in 1837. -was a harness maker, saddler and farmer.
