Old Gun I Think?

Whites TDI, GMT, XLT, Fisher C$, Gold Bug 2, 1225, 1220, Minelab SD2200v2
Found this by an old mining town 1850's called Aqua Fria
it is 9 inchs long rusted real bad down about 4 inchs
I was using my GMT and it only read about 50 like a brass shell casing
made the hole bigger but could not find any other parts
is it an old gun or????

The solid cylinder of metal, machined from a single block of steel features 6 bores or barrels, known as the barrel group (A), and is mounted on a rod (B) which screws into the standing breech (L) on the frame, located beneath the hammer (F). The barrel group rotates around the rod and is secured to it by one pan-headed screw at the muzzle end.

hummm 1857 allen & thurber .36 cal 6 shot cap and ball pepper box---(they were prone to chain firing sometimes firing all 6 barrels at once / and even sometimes "blowing" up upon firing -- that might be why the barrel is missing and the rods bent) who knows it might have seen civil war action ? the later more powerful 1858 remington and 1860 colt pistols (44 cal and not prone to chain firing) made them old fashioned rather quickly one they came on the market -- they closed shop by mid 1860's (end of the civil war)
