I picked up this particular item some years ago at a estate sale.

It's approximately 5 5/8 inches (142.7mm) tall, and 4 inches (101.6mm) in diameter. It's emerald green, 12 sided, two piece glass, has an older style locking hasp and washer, with random bubbles. There are no markings although random bumps on the bottom appear to be lettering.

Any Ideas?

Thank you for the link.
Is the glass a reproduction?
What do you mean by contemporary?

What if you were at a garage sale, it was on the table, and you didn't have ebay available, would it be worth .50?

I'd pay a buck for it even though it appears modern...I like it..:occasion14:

LOL I paid .50.

I agree. I think it is a Chinese knockoff.

If you go by the seams, which come up to the bottom ridge of the lip, it would appear to be between 1880 to 1900. But the overall condition; there is almost no wear on the bottom, where it would have been shoved, moved and shifted across counters, tables, and shelves, tells me it is most likely not old at all.

People who sell fakes/counterfeits will run the bottom across sandpaper to create the impression of aging (wear).

Thanks bigfoot! :occasion14:

I wouldn't call it a reproduction. By contemporary I meant a modern made piece. Even if I did have eBay available at a yard sale, I would only buy it if I needed or wanted it. I would not purchase if for resale though, because there is no collector value to it. It's value lies in the decorative aspect of it.
