Hello everyone,
This is my first post to this forum and I am hoping someone can help me identify this button that I found today. I am new to artifact hunting so I could use some help with the identification and age of this button.
Any info that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

We used to screen these out in our privy digs...I think they were made for a long time. Good luck in your searches. Niffler

It does look like the type used on the old style, one piece, long johns or union suits.

Am sure they would have been used on other items as well.

Made of "milk-glass", popular in America from the 1830's until the 1890's. :icon_thumright:

"First made in Venice in the 16th century, colors include blue, pink, yellow, brown, black, and white. 19th-century glass makers called milky white opaque glass "opal glass". The name milk glass is relatively recent. The white color is achieved through the addition of an opacifier, e.g. tin dioxide or bone ash."

Sorry that's all I've got. :icon_scratch:
Welcome to Tnet Edisto Rambler! :hello:
